VICFA at the 2025 HOA Conference

We are revving up to man the VICFA booth at the Homesteaders of America Conference convening this weekend!
We will be spreading the word on this year’s proposed legislation, which is poised to open up direct farm-to-consumer sales in Virginia. Reclaiming the local opportunities for small farmers to stay strong and viable, honoring our food choices, as well as expanding what is available.
2026 Proposed legislation…
Direct Unregulated on Farm Sales, “ That the people shall have the right to acquire, for their own consumption, farm or home-produced food, directly at the farm or home with consent of the farmer or home resident who produced it.“
Last year, we gratefully had Delegate Nick Freitas put forward a constitutional amendment that would declare and give a constitutional right to food choice in the Virginia General Assembly. We plan on carrying this amendment again in 2027, which is the appropriate protocol for passing.
The Amendment, when passed, will acknowledge YOUR right to choose and give the people the right to defend that choice in a court of law. This year’s bill will address a different aspect of food procurement, one that protects the farmer from bureaucratic overreach.
Let’s get the government control out of our food.
